
Bowman Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Drayson Bowman of the Spokane Chiefs is the Boston Pizza CHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 1. Bowman scored five goals and five assists for 10 points in three wins with a plus-minus rating of plus-6.
Bowman started his week on Wednesday in a road game against the division rival Everett Silvertips. He would score one goal and add two assists in the 9-1 win. On Friday night Bowman would score his fourth career hat-trick with two more assists for a five-point night as first star of the game leading the Chiefs to a 6-0 win over the Chilliwack Bruins. His week would end on Saturday as the Chiefs would host the Kootenay Ice and Bowman would finish strong with a goal and an assist in another 6-0 victory.
Bowman, a 19-year-old from Littleton, Colorado, is in his fourth WHL season with the Chiefs. He currently leads the surging Chiefs in scoring with 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points in 40 games. The Chiefs have now won 11 straight games, one shy of the club record. Bowman was selected in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes in the third round, 72nd overall.
The QMJHL nominee for the award is Jacob Lagacé of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens who had five goals and three assists for eight points in three games highlighted by a four goal and one assist game on Saturday in a 10-5 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar as first star of the game. Cody Hodgson of the Brampton Battalion represents the OHL nominee for the award after scoring four goals and three assists for seven points in three games. Hodgson set a new franchise record for scoring points in 21 consecutive games.
