Week in Review:
Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011 vs. Portland Winterhawks - 4-2 Loss
The Winterhawks, who were playing their seventh game of a nine game road trip, beat the Blazers 4-2 on Wednesday Night. Sven Bartschi returned to the line up and had a goal and two assists in the win. Ty Rattie also had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks. Colin Smith and Logan McVeigh each scored goals for the Blazers in the loss. Cole Cheveldave took his first loss of the season in goal, despite making 40 saves. Full Recap and Highlights.
Friday, November 4th, 2011 at PG Cougars - 5-1 Win
It was the first trip of the season for the Blazers up north and they walked away with a 5-1 win in game one of a doubleheader. The Prince George Cougars opened the scoring, but the Blazers responded with five goals. Tim Bozon and Brendan Ranford each finished with two goals. Colin Smith scored the other goal for the Blazers. JC Lipon had three assists for the Blazers. Cole Cheveldave was in goal and earned the win with 35 saves. Full Recap and Highlights.
Saturday, November 5th, 2011 at PG Cougars - 3-1 Loss
The Blazers were playing their third game in four nights and fell 3-1 in Prince George. JC Lipon opened the scoring converting on a terrific pass by Colin Smith. The Cougars responded with an even strength goal and a power play goal in the second period. Alex Forsberg scored an empty net goal to make it a 3-1 victory. Cam Lanigan was in goal for the Blazers and he made 30 saves in the loss. Full Recap and Highlights.
Smith added to Team WHL for Subway Super Series
Blazers' forward Colin Smith has been added to Team WHL for the Subway Super Series. The 18-year-old will play on Wednesday, November 16th in Regina against Team Russia. The Edmonton native is leading the Blazers in scoring this season with 10 goals, 11 assists for 21 points in 17 games. Team WHL roster.
November Stache Bash in Full Force
The Kamloops Blazers hockey club will be growing moustaches throughout the month of November to support Men's Cancer. To find out more information or to donate, follow this link. Thanks to everyone who has donated money to this great cause.
Two Rare Alberta Home Games This Week
The Kamloops Blazers are hosting the Red Deer Rebels and Edmonton Oil Kings this upcoming weekend. The Rebels did not play in Kamloops last season, and were last here on January 15th, 2010 when the Blazers were 6-3 winners. The Blazers lost 4-2 in Red Deer earlier this season on October 19th. The Rebels will be back in Kamloops on February 17th for the final meeting of the season.
The Edmonton Oil Kings were last in Kamloops on December 2nd, 2009. The Blazers won that outing 5-0 on home ice. The Blazers don't play in Edmonton this season, but the Oil Kings will play in Kamloops again on February 14th.
Veterans Night, Postgame Fan Skate
The Kamloops Blazers are hosting two weekend home games this week. On Friday, November 11th, the Blazers host the Red Deer Rebels in a game that will start at 2:00pm. Veterans are being offered tickets for only $10. Following the game all the Blazers will be on the ice to skate with the fans. The Fan Skate is FREE to anyone attending the game.
Blazers Ranked in BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10
The Kamloops Blazers came in ranked 7th in the BMO CHL MasterCard Top 10 this past week. The Blazers were up three spots after being ranked 10th last week. The Blazers were ranked along with two other WHL clubs, the Tri-City Americans and the Kootenay Ice. View the Rankings.
