Saskatoon Blades News Release

The Saskatoon Blades welcome the division rival Brandon Wheat Kings to the Credit Union Centre on Tuesday night for the team's lone home game of a busy week.

The Blades are coming off of a 7-3 home win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes from Saturday night. In that game it was Saskatoon getting goals from 6 different players, with Michael Burns scoring a pair. Adam Todd started his second game of the season for the Blades and he stopped 32 shots for his first WHL win.

The game also marked a number of other firsts as Travis McEvoy scored his first career WHL goal, Nick Zajac got into his first WHL fight and Devan Fafard registered his first WHL point with an assist in the second period.

But now, the Blades attention is firmly on the Wheaties. Brandon enters the game by going 3-0-1-0 in their last 4 games and their overall record of 11-5-1-1 is good enough for first in the Eastern Division. The Blades record of 11-6-0-1 is good for 23 points, 1 point back of Brandon.

The game also marks a special event as it is Novice Hockey Night at the Credit Union Centre. Over 3000 young hockey fans are expected to be in attendance for the game, which is always one of the most fun and well attended games of the season. You won't want to miss the great atmosphere that comes with such a great game.

Blades Notes

- The game also marks a special return of a former Blade. Darian Dziurzynski makes his first appearance against the Saskatoon Blades after a trade between the two clubs in October. Dziurzynski was traded to Brandon while the Blades were on their US Division road trip. In return for the Lloydminster sniper, Saskatoon received a trio of draft picks, including two second rounders.

- The Blades made another minor roster shakeup over the weekend. Defenceman Zach Hodder was released by the team after playing 11 games as a member of the Blades. Hodder was acquired earlier this season along with Michael Burns in a deal that saw Adam Morrison and Levi Bews head to Vancouver.

- Just a reminder that great deals can still be had on Saskatoon Blades season tickets. Just because the season is underway, doesn't mean you have to miss out on catching the Blades at every opportunity!
