Kamloops Blazers' Ranford Named WHL Player of the Week

CALGARY, AB. - The WHL Player of the Week is forward Brendan Ranford of the Kamloops Blazers.
Ranford picked up six points, scoring three goals and three assists in two games over the past week, helping the Blazers to a 2-0-0-0 record.
On Saturday, November 13th, the Blazers welcomed the Kelowna Rockets to the Kamloops Interior Savings Centre. Ranford scored two goals, including the game winner, added an assist and was named the games 1st Star as the Blazers shut-out the Rockets 4-0. On Sunday, November 14th, the Everett Silvertips rolled into Kamloops to face the Blazers. Ranford collected one goal, two assists and was named the games 2nd Star in the Blazers' 3-1 win over the 'Tips.
Ranford currently leads the WHL in goals scored with 20 tallies and is ranked 3rd among all WHL scorers with 33 points (20 goals, 13 assists) in 21 games played. The Kamloops Blazers have won seven of their past 10 games and currently sit second in the WHL BC Division with 11-9-0-1 record for 23 points.
Ranford, an 18 year old from Edmonton, Alberta, is playing his third season with the Kamloops Blazers. The Blazers made him their 1st round (15th overall) selection at the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft and the 5'10" left winger was recently selected in the 7th round in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers. Ranford was recently named to Team WHL and will compete against the Russian National Junior team this Wednesday night in the Subway Super Series game hosted by the Kamloops Blazers.
The WHL has also nominated Jeff Bosch of the Kamloops Blazers for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Bosch posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week with one shut-out, stopping 61 of 62 shots faced for a 0.500 goals-against average and 0.984 save percentage. Bosch, a native of Martensville, SK, back stopped the Blazers to a 4-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets and a 3-1 victory over the Everett Silvertips.
