
Kalish KOs Nashville in 2-0 Win

NASHVILLE, TN - Jake Kalish tossed 7 shutout frames against Nashville for the 2nd time in July, and the Storm Chasers defeated the Sounds 2-0 on Wednesday night at First Tennessee Field.
Omaha broke a scoreless tie in the top of the 5th with a 2-out rally. Jack Lopez singled, stole 2nd, and scored on a single by Billy Burns , who took 2nd on the throw to the plate. Nicky Lopez then hit a grounder to 3rd that went under the glove of Sheldon Neuse for an error, allowing Burns to score from 2nd for a 2-0 Chasers lead.
Jake Kalish (W, 4-4) made that lead stand up over 7 outstanding innings; he allowed only 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 9.
Chris Bassitt (L, 2-4) was nearly as good for Nashville; he allowed 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits in 7 frames; he struck out 5 and walked 1.
Michael Mariot worked a scoreless bottom of the 8th, and Jake Newberry pitched the 9th for his 1st save with the Chasers.
The Storm Chasers (42-53) will conclude the series in Nashville tomorrow night at 7:05. LHP Trevor Oaks (6-3, 1.84) will throw for Omaha, while RHP Daniel Mengden (1-1, 4.70) will toss for Nashville.
