
Kalin Lucas Leads Energy to Victory over Bighorns

Des Moines, Iowa - The Iowa Energy (20-17) won 117-115 over the Reno Bighorns (16-24) Sunday evening at Wells Fargo Arena on Faith & Family Night Presented By Service Legends.
The Energy were led by Kalin Lucas with 23 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Jarnell Stokes had a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds and Willie Reed added his third double-double in a row with 14 points and 16 rebounds. The Bighorns were led by David Stockton with 35 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
It was a fast paced first half for Iowa and Reno. Kalin Lucas led the Energy with 12 points on five of nine shooting. Stokes added 11 points and 10 first half rebounds as the Energy led 59-54 at halftime. The Energy's biggest lead was 16 points during the first half. 36 of the Energy's 59 first half points came in the paint. Tajuan Porter had 20 first half points for Reno.
The Energy came out strong to start the second half, outscoring the Reno Bighorns 38-28 in the third quarter and jumped out to a 15-point lead. The Energy shot 58 percent from the field in the third led behind Lucas with nine points. Ra'shad James added 10 points for Reno. Iowa would lead 97-82 heading into the fourth.
Reno was able to close the gap in the fourth with 16 points from Stockton and 12 points from James to tie the game with 1:15 to play. It was an exciting final minute of play as both teams had chances to take the lead in the final seconds. It all came down to a last second shot by Damien Wilkins with 1.5 seconds left. Wilkins was fouled while shooting and went to the line for two free-throws. Wilkins made both free-throws to give the Energy a lead with :1.5 to play. Reno's last second shot for the win by Stockton was short and the Energy won 117-115.
Iowa returns home after a four-game road trip on Friday, March 20 at 7pm against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Country Night.
