
Bighorns Fourth Quarter Surge Falls Short at the Buzzer

Des Moines, Iowa., Mar. 08, 2015- Despite David Stockton pouring in 35 points and the Bighorns making a strong fourth quarter comeback, the Bighorns fell 117-115 at the last second at the Well Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA .
Stockton paced the Bighorns with 35 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and three steals. This match-up marked the third straight contest Stockton has notched over 30 points in a game since returning to the Bighorns at the beginning of March after his 10-day call-up.
James totaled 29 points, seven rebounds and two assists for the Bighorns. Tajaun Porter had 29 points and four rebounds while Sim Bhullar tallied nine points and 13 rebounds.
Kalin Lucas led the Energy with 23 points and nine rebounds. Jarnell Stokes added 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Energy while Damien Wilkins had 16 points and four rebounds.
During the first quarter, Stockton led the Bighorns with seven points and three assists. Porter went 100% in the quarter from the three-point line and the field, notching six points. James and Bhullar netted five points each, while James tallied five rebounds.
Porter had 14 points in the second, leading the Bighorns in the quarter. Stockton totaled seven points, four rebounds and three assists in the while David wear added five points and four rebounds in the second. The Bighorns outscored the Energy in the quarter 31-26.
The Bighorns went into the locker room at the half trailing the Energy 59-54.
In the third quarter, James led the Bighorns with 10 points. Wear netted six points in the third while David Stocked totaled five points, two rebounds and two assists.
The Bighorns rallied during the final quarter of play, outscoring the Energy 33-20. The two teams brought it down to the last second after exchanging the lead four times during the 12 minutes of play and tying two times before Wilkins broke the tie after netting two free throws after a foul by James. With less than a second left on the clock, Stockton attempted a deep three pointer, but was unsuccessful.
Stockton went 5-10 from the field and 3-6 from the three-point line with 16 points during the final quarter. James netted 12 points and added four rebounds in the final quarter.
The Bighorns continue on the road to face the Texas legends on Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. PST in Frisco, TX. The Bighorns return to the Reno Events Center Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m. to take-on the Bakersfield Jam.
