
Cooley, Stampede Fall to Warriors

Santa Cruz, CA - Jack Cooley's big night was spoiled by a 86-113 loss in Santa Cruz Saturday night. Cooley (21 points, 22 rebounds) recorded his 10th double-double and second 20-20 game of the season.
The Warriors jumped out to a quick start shooting 63 percent in the first quarter and grabbing a 35-17 advantage. Hobson and Thompson scored 10 points each in the first to lead Santa Cruz. The Stampede began to claw their way back into the game in the second quarter where Nick Wiggins scored seven of his 15 points to bring Idaho within 11 points heading into half time.
The Stampede started the third quarter with six straight points to bring the deficit to just five. But Mychel Thompson hit a 3-pointer to swing the momentum back to the Warriors for good. Santa Cruz went on to outscore Idaho by 16 points in the second half, cruising to a 113-86 victory.
Cooley grabbed a season-high 22 rebounds, including 11 from the offensive glass. Brandon Fields pitched in with nine points and seven assists in his second consecutive start. Nick Wiggins added 15 points while Jermaine Taylor scored 16 off the bench.
Darington Hobson scored a game-high 26 points while recording 13 rebounds. Dominque Sutton also posted a double-double, putting up 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win.
The Stampede return to Boise on Friday, March 13 to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 7 p.m.
