
Santa Cruz Sweeps Stampede in Weekend Series

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Idaho Stampede 113-86 on Saturday night to improve to 27-13 on the season, notching an eighth straight win.
Santa Cruz was led by Darington Hobson, who recorded double-double and finished with 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. Dominique Sutton also recorded a double-double, scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds on a 9 of 13 shooting effort.
The Stampede received a solid performance from Jack Cooley who recorded a double-double with 21 points and a game-high and season-high of 22 rebounds.
The opening frame saw Santa Cruz race ahead behind a team shooting effort of 64%, paced by Mychel Thompson's and Darington Hobson's 10 first quarter points apiece. Hobson and Andrew Warren hit back-to-back threes to give the Warriors an 18-point lead heading into the second period.
The Stampede rallied their way back into the game, trailing by just 11 points at the half and would come within 5 points of Santa Cruz in the third quarter. The two teams would not stay close for long, with Santa Cruz exploding offensively to lead by as many as 30 points in the fourth quarter.
