Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston RiverDogs right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle has been reinstated from the 7-Day DL, the New York Yankees announced Tuesday. In separate roster moves, outfielder Eduardo Sosa was placed on the 7-Day DL, retroactive to August 19, and catcher/designated hitter Kyle Higashioka was transferred from the inactive list to the disabled list, retroactive to August 22.

Kahnle has been a stalwart at the back end of the RiverDogs' bullpen all season. The Division II Lynn University product is 2-5 with a 4.38 ERA over 72.0 innings in 35 relief appearances. Kahnle has shown a penchant to induce swings and misses, racking up 99 punch outs over those frames.

Sosa has struggled of late, but has been a solid all-around contributor for Manager Aaron Ledesma's club throughout the year. The left-handed swinging Venezuelan outfielder is batting .255 with two home runs, 28 RBI and 35 runs scored for the campaign. Sosa also ranks second on the club in stolen bases with 14 swipes.

Higashioka has shown impressive power during his second stint in the South Atlantic League. The 21-year old Californian is hitting .229 with four homers, six doubles, and 13 RBI in 31 games.

The RiverDogs host a doubleheader against the Greenville Drive tonight at 6:05 p.m. The four game series continues on Wednesday and Thursday with regularly scheduled 7:05 p.m. start times.
