EVANSVILLE - Mounting a third period comeback, the Kalamazoo Wings scored two goals to force overtime and then received the game-winner from Justin Taylor to defeat the Evansville IceMen 5-4 Wednesday night at the Ford Center.

Game Sheet

Braden Pimm's (20th) put the IceMen ahead 6:52 into the game with a wrap-around tally. Kalamazoo battled back midway in the period with Michael Neal's 12th goal of the season. The goal extended Neal's point streak to eight games.

Entering Wednesday night last in the Eastern Conference in power-play percentage, the IceMen scored on their first two man-advantage chances. Mark Anthoine (5th) regained the lead for Evansville with a power-play goal 13:43 into the stanza.

Trailing heading into the second period, Gergo Nagy (10th) cashed in on an Evansville turnover to even the game 1:34 into second.

Evansville forged ahead midway in the period with a power-play goal from Thomas Frazee (14th). Five minutes later, former K-Wing Brandon Martell notched his sixth goal of the season to give the IceMen their largest lead of the night.

Coming up empty on their first four power-play opportunities, it was the K-Wings special teams that connected on their final two chances that created the comeback. Redirecting a Kane Lafranchise slap shot, Ludwig Blomstrand's (20th) power-play goal cut the deficit in half just 16 seconds in the third period.

Camped out in front of the net midway in the period, Blomstrand (21st) scored in similar fashion to tie the game at 4-4.

Evansville nearly retook the lead in the final minutes when Peter Sakaris looked like he had Joel Martin beat; however, Martin's post-to-post game saving diving save forced overtime.

Forcing an IceMen's turnover behind their net, Taylor (9th) recorded the game-winner to cap off the come-from-behind victory.

Kalamazoo will conclude a four-game road trip this Wednesday, March 6th with an

8 p.m. encounter at the Allen County Memorial Coliseum against the Fort Wayne Komets.

The K-Wings will return home this Saturday, March 7th, with a 7:30 p.m. face-off versus the Fort Wayne Komets during Autism Awareness Night and Special Olympic Polar Plunge Night presented by Sam's Club and supported by Consumers Credit Union.
