Kinston Indians News Release

The first place K-Tribe take on Potomac in the second game of a three game series tonight at 7pm at Historic Grainger Stadium. Kinston's starter T.J. McFarland leads the Carolina League in wins and ERA. The K-Tribe also welcomes newly acquired shortstop Juan Diaz (received in the Russell Branyan trade with Seattle) to the roster.

Bo Knows Baseball- Kinston left fielder Bo Greenwell matched a K-Tribe season high with four hits in Sunday's win. He was 4-for-5 with a double, RBI and two runs scored. He is now hitting 6-for-13 in three games since joining the K-Tribe on Friday night.

Ring the Bell- Bellows home run last night ended a 24-game homerless drought. He had not homered since May 24 at Potomac, when he hit a game-winning grand slam in the top of the 15th inning in a 10-6 Indians win. That home run and yesterday's blast were both off of Potomac's Jesse Estrada.

Burning Down the House- Kinston closer Cory Burns struck out the side in order, all looking, on Sunday night for his 12th save with the K-Tribe. Burns is now 24-for-24 in save opportunities this year between Lake County and Kinston. The 24 saves are tied for second in all of baseball, trailing only Advanced-A Lake Elsinore's Brad Brach. Brach is the brother of Lake County pitcher Brett Brach, who also had a stint in Kinston this season. Burns also has the most saves in baseball without a blown opportunity. It hasn't been as easy as it sounds for Burns, as yesterday was the first time with Kinston that he has retired the side in order in a full inning of a save situation.
