April 30, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Kinston Indians News Release

Local Product and K-Triber Makes It To The Show - 2010 Kinston Indian and Greenville, NC native Alex White will make his Major League debut today for the Indians. White will be called up to Replace Carlos Carrasco's spot in the rotation. Cleveland's number one pick in 2009 is 1-0 with a 1.90 ERA with AAA Columbus. In eight games last year, White tossed a 2.86 ERA and posted a record of 2-3 with Kinston. White is the quickest former K-Triber to make it to the bigs since Jeanmar Gomez made a similar jump from 2009-10. Nine former K-Tribers are now on the Major League Roster for the Cleveland Indians.

New Faces, New Places - A slew of changes over the last couple of days as pitchers Adam Miller (Extended Spring Training) and Francisco Jimenez (Lake County) have both joined the K-Tribe bullpen. Speedster Delvi Cid was activated from the disabled list and Kyle Smith was called up from Lake County as well. Marty Popham was sent to Double A Akron today, Greg Folgia was sent down to Lake County and long time K-Triber Ronald Rivas (09-11) was released from the organization yesterday.

Adam Miller Comeback - A fickle finger prevented Adam Miller from making good on the acclaim that made him the Indians' No. 1, seemingly, can't-miss prospect. Miller hasn't pitched for a Tribe affiliate since May 20, 2008 (Triple A). He had to have four surgical procedures to address a problem with the pulley system in his right middle finger, and the issues were considered as career-threatening as they were rare. Miller has been clocked up to 95 mph and has flashed an above average slider, according to farm director Ross Atkins. The former first round draft pick in 2003 (31st overall), played for Kinston in 2004 (3-2, 2.08 in eight starts and 2005 (2-4, 4.83). Injuries have plagued him in every step of his Minor League career.
