Jurries prudent in Braves' win

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Suns lost two leads in a 5-3 loss against the Greenville Braves in front of 1,611 fans Wednesday at Municipal Stadium.

The Braves scored on a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning to tie the game, 3-3; and James Jurries collected a pair of run-scoring singles in the seventh and eighth innings to give Greenville (47-52 overall, 11-20 second half) its first lead of the night. Jurries went 5-for-5 with two RBI.

In the seventh, Brian Steffek (1-1) earned the loss after walking three and allowing Jurries' go-ahead single.

Suns starter Tommy Farmer allowed three runs over six innings and earned a no-decision. Braves starter Matt Belisle (6-8) earned the win, allowing three runs over seven innings. Greenville took the lead after Belisle was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh. Roman Colon retired the side in order in the ninth to earn his first career save.

The Suns (48-53, 17-15) scored twice in the first inning. Reggie Abercrombie grounded out to second base to score Shane Victorino. Brennan King singled home Jason Repko to give Jacksonville a 2-0 lead. Derek Michaelis drove home Repko with a double in the fifth.

Michaelis, Victorino and Repko each had two hits for the Suns, which had 10 hits but hit into three double plays.

Right-hander Heath Totten (7-9, 3.82 ERA) is scheduled to face Braves lefty Chris Waters (3-3, 3.72) at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Municipal Stadium.
