WHAT A WAY TO KICK OFF THE SECOND HALF - Despite trailing 1-0 after the first inning, the Portland Sea Dogs walked off the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-4 in the tenth inning last night. Spencer Horwitz blasted a solo homer in the first inning off starter Josh Taylor and the Fisher Cats led, 1-0. The Sea Dogs answered in the bottom of the fourth inning against Fisher Cats starter Nick Fraze. Stephen Scott collected a one-out base hit and David Hamilton walked, putting runners on first and second. Tyreque Reed hit a bloop single to right, bringing in Scott, tying the game 1-1. After a walk to Nick Sogard, Elih Marrero hit an RBI groundout to shortstop, plating Hamilton and giving Portland their first lead 2-1. In the fifth, Zac Cook led off the inning with a double. One out later, Ryan Gold doubled to left, driving in Cook, tying the game 2-2. Portland took the lead in the ninth inning with Fisher Cats reliever Andrew Bash on the mound. Ceddanne Rafaela singled, and Christian Koss was hit by a pitch. Hudson Potts grounded into a fielder's choice to put runners on the corners. David Hamilton tripled to right, bringing in Rafaela and Potts, regaining the lead for Portland 4-2. Rafael Lantigua sent a two-run double down the right field line, plating De Los Santos and Cook, tying the game 4-4 in the ninth. In the tenth with the bases loaded, Hudson Potts stepped up to the plate and lifted a sacrifice fly to left, bringing in Binelas for a 5-4 walk-off win over the Fisher Cats.

STARTERS STAY STRONG - Sea Dogs starters have been strong for Portland collectively have a 3.43 ERA this season. They have struck out 350 opposing hitters in 343.2 innings of work. The bullpen has a 4.58 ERA with a 14-16 record. Portland is 14-for-27 in save opportunities.

THE MONTH OF JUNE - The Sea Dogs won their first game in the month of June last night at Hadlock Field after going 0-6 while being swept by the Hartford Yard Goats to start the month. Portland is 8-9 in June on the road. They are batting .225 while holding opposing hitters to a .214 batting average. The Sea Dogs have hit 18 long balls with Ceddanne Rafaela leading the way with five.

MOSQUEDA AND THOMPSON CLOSE THINGS OUT - Relievers Oddanier Mosqueda and Jake Thompson have had a very strong month out of the bullpen for Portland. Mosqueda is 1-0 in eight games with a 0.93 ERA allowing just one run over 9.2 innings while striking out 14. Thompson is two-for-three in save opportunities with a 1.54 ERA striking out nine over 11.2 innings in June.

SEA DOGS HAND FISHER CATS FIRST EXTRA INNINGS LOSS - Heading into extra innings last night, the Fisher Cats were 4-0 in extras while the Sea Dogs were 3-5. Portland won in walk off fashion for the third time this season, while New Hampshire fell for the first time in extras.

SALE SET TO PITCH FOR PORTLAND THURSDAY - LHP Chris Sale is scheduled to start Thursday for the Portland Sea Dogs. Last season for Boston, Sale went 5-1 with a 3.16 ERA in nine starts. He struck out 52 batters in 42.2 innings for the Red Sox. Sale also pitched for Portland during two rehab starts last season. He tossed 7.1 innings allowing two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out 15.

THIS DATE IN SEA DOGS HISTORY - June 29, 2000: The Portland Sea Dogs play an exhibition game against the Florida Marlins at Hadlock Field. Ross Gload hit for the cycle leading the Sea Dogs to a 9-2 win before a record crowd of 6,910 (before the ballpark expanded). A home run contest took place prior to the game - Kevin Millar took individual honors with 6 home runs and the Sea Dogs won the home run contest, 17-16 behind 5 homers from manager Rick Renteria.

PITCHING MATCHUP - LHP Josh Taylor will start for his second-consecutive game for the Portland Sea Dogs tonight. Last night, Taylor allowed one run on three hits in the first inning yesterday. He gave up a home run to Spencer Horwitz, the second batter of the inning. RHP Brian Van Belle will come in after Taylor for the Sea Dogs. Van Belle last pitched 6/23 at Richmond and tossed 5.0 innings allowing three runs on six hits while walking one and striking out seven.
