Birmingham Barons News Release
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (25-32) brought seven runs around to score in the fifth inning, erasing a 3-0 deficit as they turned the tables on the Birmingham Barons (26-32) en route to an 8-4 win on Tuesday at Regions Field.
* Moments That Mattered: After Jordan Guerrero (L, 2-6) threw four masterful innings with just a pair of hits against, the Jumbo Shrimp attacked the Birmingham starter, beginning with a leadoff double form John Norwood. Following a walk by Eric Jagielo on the next at bat, Peter O'Brien cleared the bases with a three-run homer to level the score in the fifth.
* Turning Point: Still working with no outs against, Brian Schales kept the Jacksonville hit parade going, while Rodrigo Vigil doubled to set up Mason Davis for an RBI single to jump the Shrimp ahead 4-3. Cade Gotta tacked on an RBI, and Isan Diaz knocked in two more as the visitors surged to a 7-3 lead before the dust settled.
* Facts and Figures: Eloy Jimenez rebounded after going 0-for-7 over his last two games, going 2-for-3 on Wednesday with an RBI single in the third inning and a walk.
* By the Numbers: The Barons out-hit the Jumbo Shrimp 11-10 on the day, with Ryan Brett and Trey Michlaczewski at the vanguard as each tallied three hits. Brett finished 3-for-5 and a homer shy of the cycle, while scoring two of Birmingham's four runs. Seby Zavala, Zack Collins, and Jameson Fisher - who also tripled in the contest - joined Jimenez in the RBI department, each batting in a run.
* Up Next: The Barons and Jumbo Shrimp will wrap up the cross-divisional series on Thursday night. The Barons will call from the bullpen for the 7:05 p.m. start, while right-hander Robert Dugger (0-0, 5.40) will toe the rubber for the Jumbo Shrimp. Curt Bloom will have the call on 960 WERC News Radio and the iHeart Radio app.
