
Montgomery Defeats Mississippi 8-2 in Tuesday Night's Contest

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (25-33) were defeated by the Montgomery Biscuits (29-29) by a final score of 8-2 on Tuesday night at Trustmark Park. M-Braves second baseman, Luis Valenzuela provided a bright spot for the M-Braves offense after going 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and a RBI.
Montgomery's Mike Brosseau produced the game's first run after lining a RBI single into center field, giving the Biscuits a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning.
Mississippi immediately responded in the bottom of the second inning when Connor Lien singled on a line drive to left field, allowing Luis Valenzuela to score, tying the game 1-1.
The Biscuits bats exploded for six runs in the top of the third inning. Nick Solak, Brett Sullivan, and Nathan Lukes all produced RBI singles, giving the Biscuits a 5-1 lead. Brosseau then followed Lukes with a RBI double, extending the Biscuits lead 6-1. David Rodriguez rounded out the scoring for Montgomery in the top of the third inning after producing an RBI groundout, making the score 7-1.
The M-Braves added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning via a ground ball RBI single from Luis Valenzuela which allowed Tyler Marlette to score, thus making the score 7-2.
The Biscuits added an insurance run in the top of the eighth inning, earning an 8-2 lead after Solak recorded his second RBI single. Montgomery's 8-2 lead would later prove to be the game's final score.
Sam McWilliams (1-2, 6.92) was credited with the win for Montgomery while Bryse Wilson (1-2, 7.43) suffered the loss for Mississippi.
The M-Braves and the Biscuits will do it again on Wednesday night, when they meet for the fourth time this season at Trustmark Park. The first pitch for Wednesday night's game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (CT). RHP Andres Santiago (3-0, 3.98) is projected as the M-Braves Wednesday night starter. Opposite of Santiago on the mound will be Montgomery RHP Zach Lee (6-1, 2.53). Wednesday night's contest will feature AMR First Responders Wednesday presented by AMR (all First Responders/Emergency Response personnel, including law enforcement and firefighters, may purchase a $7 ticket in all seating areas, excluding Suite Level, when presenting ID (excluding July 4).
