BINGHAMTON TAKES GAME TWO The Binghamton Rumble Ponies beat the Portland Sea Dogs 7-1 last night at Hadlock Field. Binghamton capitalized early after plating four runs in the top of the first. An RBI single from Brandon McIlwain began the scoring before a bases-loaded hit by pitch scored Hayden Senger. Jose Mena brought home two more runs with a two-RBI single. Agustin Ruiz recorded an RBI groundout in the top of the second to make it 5-0 Binghamton. Ruiz scored one more in the top of the fourth with an RBI single to score Rowdey Jordan. Niko Kavadas put Portland on the board 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI double (8) to score Nathan Hickey. Binghamton brought another run across in the top of the fifth with an RBI double from Tanner Murphy.

SPECTACULAR SPACKE Reliever Dylan Spacke has not allowed a run in his last five appearances, dating back to June 18th. During this stretch, he has tossed 13.2 innings allowing 10 hits while walking just one batter and striking out 10. Last night, Spacke pitched a scoreless 3.2 innings in relief allowing just three hits. He did not issue a walk and struck out four batters to improve to a 2.45 ERA

ANOTHER ARM OUT OF THE BULLPEN Closer Luis Guerrero is also riding a four game shutout streak for Portland. In his last four games, he has pitched 5.0 scoreless inning allowing just one hit while walking three and striking out eight. He has recorded three saves in his last four games for the Sea Dogs.

HICKEY KEEPS HITTING Nathan Hickey is currently riding a 13 game on base streak for Portland, dating back to June 17th. During this streak, he is hitting .267 with a double, three home runs and seven RBI. He has also drawn 10 walks and has swiped two bases.

MAKING PORTLAND PROUD Three 2023 Sea Dogs were selected to participate in the 2023 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Infielders Marcelo Mayer and Nick Yorke along with RHP Luis Guerrero will represent the Sea Dogs in Seattle.

CAN'T CATCH THE SEA DOGS Portland lead all of Double-A with 149 stolen bases this season. The Biloxi Shuckers (Southern League) and the Somerset Patriots tie for second most with 136 on the season. Binghamton comes into the series with 66 stolen bases collectively.

TOP DOGS IN THE DIVISION After securing the series finale over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Sea Dogs took over first place in the Northeast Division. With a 6-2 record in the second half, Portland is now 1.0 game ahead of the second place Somerset Patriots.

THIS DAY IN SEA DOGS HISTORY July 6, 2012 - Jacoby Ellsbury and Ryan Sweeney make rehab appearances for the Sea Dogs in Portland's 4-2 win at New Hampshire. Ellsbury (CF) goes 1-for-4 with a double and Sweeney (DH) finishes 0-for-3.

PITCHING PREVIEW RHP Hunter Dobbins will take the mound for Portland tonight. He last pitched on July 1st in New Hampshire and tossed 5.1 innings allowing three runs on eight hits while walking one and striking out four. His eight hits allowed were a new career-high. Dobbins has not faced the Rumble Ponies this season.
