Hartford Yard Goats News Release

Hartford, CT- Bladimir Restituyo had an impressive night, going 3-3 with a home run, double, single, three RBIs, and two runs scored, as the Yard Goats defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 5-1 on Thursday night at Dunkin' Park in Hartford. Joe Rock dazzled on the mound, throwing five innings and allowing just three hits and one run while striking out nine Fisher Cats. Relievers Stephen Jones and Nick Kuzia fired four scoreless and hitless innings. Yard Goats pitching tied a season-high with 15 strikeouts fanning every single batter in New Hampshire's lineup at least once. Restituyo had three hits in his only three plate appearances of the game.

The Fisher Cats opened up the scoring in the third inning. Leo Jimenez led off the inning with a solo home run over the wall in left field, but Rock would settle down and retire the next three batters of the inning, making it a 1-0 lead for New Hampshire heading into the bottom of the third inning.

Hartford promptly responded in the bottom of the third inning, starting with a lead off double from Restituyo into the left field corner. Two batters later, Bret Boswell lined a single back up the middle, allowing Restituyo to score. After three frames, the stalemate continued, as the game was tied 1-1.

The Yard Goats got some separation the very next inning, as Restituyo once again came up big for Hartford. With Kyle Datres at first base after working a walk earlier in the inning, Restituyo cranked a deep drive to left field, sailing over the bleachers and onto the concourse behind New Hampshire's bullpen for a two-run blast. The 399-foot home gave the Yard Goats a 3-1 advantage after four frames.

Hartford added another run in the sixth inning. Grant Lavigne bounced a single into center field in front of Datres, who drilled a double to the left field corner to put runners on second and third base with only one-out in the inning. After the next batter went down swinging, Restituyo dribbled a two-out infield single down the third base line to drive in Lavigne and extend Hartford's advantage to 4-1 after six innings.

Drew Romo provided an insurance run in the eighth inning by crushing his sixth home run of the season. With one-out in the inning and facing a 1-2 count, Romo connected with a high fastball and roped it over the tall wall in right field for a solo home run. Heading into the top of the ninth inning, the Yard Goats held a 5-1 lead.

The Yard Goats and New Hampshire Fisher Cats play the fourth game of a six-game series on Friday night (7:10 PM) at Dunkin' Park. Chirs McMahon toes the rubber for the Yard Goats looking to grab his second straight victory after hurling five innings and allowing just three runs while striking out four batters in his last start against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. Tomorrow's game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app.
