Akron RubberDucks News Release
Summary
Korey Holland drives in a career-high five runs to lead the Akron RubberDucks to a 6-3 win over the Harrisburg Senators on Thursday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After the Senators cut the lead down to 3-2, the RubberDucks looked to add insurance in the sixth. Johnathan Rodriguez opened the bottom half by launching a solo shot over the triangle in right-center field to make it 4-2 RubberDucks. After a Micael Ramirez double and Joe Naranjo reaching on a hit-by-pitch, the chance for a big inning was still alive with two outs. Holland pulled a double down the line in left to score both and make it 6-2 Akron.
Mound Presence
Doug Nikhazy got the start for Akron and looked locked in early striking out the side in the first. After a solo homer in the second got Harrisburg on the board, the left-hander refocused and retired nine of the next 11 he faced. In total, Nikhazy tossed four and two-third innings two runs on three hits while striking out six. Franco Aleman followed with two and third scoreless innings and three strikeouts in his Canal Park debut. Trey Benton struck out two in a scoreless eighth. Davis Sharpe tossed the ninth allowing one run.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks jumped back from the early deficit quickly in the bottom of the second. After a Ramirez one-out double and Naranjo two-out walk, Holland followed by launching a three-run home run into the bullpens in right-center to put Akron ahead 3-1.
