Last time out...

The Freedom fell to the Aviators by a score of 5-2 Wednesday night. Rockford took control in the seventh and eighth innings, scoring three runs against the Florence bullpen to outlast the Freedom. With the Freedom trailing 2-0, Florence got on the board in the bottom half of the first. Daniel Fraga walked and stole second. Fraga moved to third on a Zac Mitchell infield single and came around to score on Collins Cuthrell sacrifice fly. Cuthrell singled in the third and came into score on a Sam Eberle RBI double that rattled off the wall in right-center field. After three frames, the game was even at two. Florence starter Tony Vocca went four innings and allowed two runs to cross. Zach Wendorf (0-1) picked up the loss out of the 'pen for the Freedom, tossing a scoreless fifth and sixth innings, but allowed two runs to cross in the seventh. Austin Delmotte pitched the final two innings, allowing a solo home run while fanning three.

For Starters Game One...

Cody Gray is coming off an outstanding start against the Traverse City Beach Bums on July 17 as he went five shutout innings to pick up his first professional win. He struck out a career high nine batters along the way while allowing only two hits and one walk. A product of NAIA school Northwood University, Gray went 8-3 in 12 starts in 2015, finishing with an ERA of 1.69. Impressively, Gray struck out 101 batters in 85 innings. In 2014 Gray appeared in seven games, picking up five wins. Also struck out 37 batters in 42.2 innings as a starter. Named a Pre-season All-American pitcher.

For Starters Game Two...

Chuck Weaver is coming off a tough loss to the Traverse City Beach Bums on July 18, as he went seven and a third innings, allowing four runs on eight hits in a 4-1 defeat for Florence. He walked one and struck out six. Weaver faced Rockford on June 30 and went five and a third innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on seven hits in a no-decision as the Freedom won 7-6. Weaver shined in 2014 as he finished the season with a 2.65 ERA, good for first on the team and fifth in the Frontier League. His notable outings included a career high eight innings of one-run ball against Southern Illinois on June 14, seven innings of one run ball on June 28 against River City, seven innings of shutout ball against Gateway on July 3 and seven innings of shutout ball against Traverse City on August 13. In 17 starts, Weaver went six or more innings 13 times. Weaver was signed by the Freedom in June 2013 after he finished up his collegiate career at IPFW. He had a solid rookie season, posting a 4-2 record with a 3.70 ERA in 14 appearances, 12 starts. The Ft. Wayne, Ind. native started 13 games as a senior for the Mastadons, posting a 2-5 with a 3.57 ERA. Weaver threw two complete games as a senior and pitched 70.2 innings.

The Freedom have a record of 4-4 in doubleheaders this season. They have not swept a doubleheader this season at home.

Home Sweet Home?

The Freedom's home record this season is 13-18, the third worst mark in the league. Meanwhile, the Aviators have been road warriors, posting a record of 17-8, the second best in the league.

On the mound...

The Freedom's team ERA continues to go down each month. In May the Freedom had an ERA of 5.61. In June they had an ERA of 4.31. So far in July their ERA is a sparkling 2.84.

Five or more runs...

When the Freedom score five or more runs in a game they have a record of 20-3 in 2015.

Glovework...

The Freedom's fielding percentage of .982 is the best in the Frontier League.

The Freedom signed catcher Matt Rubino after last night's game.
