July 1st Is Whoopee Cushion World Record Night

BOWIE, MD - On July 1st the Bowie Baysox will attempt to break the world record for the largest crowd to simultaneously sit on whoopee cushions. In honor of this event and to assist in giving the crowd gas relief, the Baysox will offer a two-for-one ticket deal for anyone who presents any gas receipt at the box office on July 1st.

"With gas prices what they are these days the least we can do is offer our fans a little gas relief," said Baysox General Manager Mike Munter. "Whoopee cushion world record night was a gas last season and this year we want to top 3,000 to break the record again."

The first 3,200 fans will receive a free whoopee cushion for the Baysox game against the Erie SeaWolves on Thursday July 1st at 7:05 p.m.

Last year 2,557 people made a joyful noise after eclipsing the previous record of 982 people set by ICQ in Birmingham, England on Jan. 15, 2003. Since the first edition of the Guinness Book of World Records was printed in 1955 people around the world have made crazy attempts to make the book; the Baysox are no exception. Although official word has not been received from Guinness regarding the results of last season's attempt to have the most people to sit on Whoopee cushions at one time, The Baysox will look to break the record once again!

"Pbbbbbbbbt" said Mascot Louie added on the opportunity to take part in another whoopee cushion related event. Even Louie is feeling the pressure at the gas pump (see attached photo) and is looking forward to some relief at whoopee cushion night. Louie will join the crowd as fans try to break the record in the third inning of the game.
