New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
(Manchester)---The Toronto Blue Jays have called up RHP Adam Peterson from its Double-A farm club, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Peterson is a 25-year old relief pitcher. He becomes the first player to reach the Major Leagues after playing for the Fisher Cats.
In 27 games for the Fisher Cats this season, all in relief, Peterson recorded an Eastern League-leading 15 saves. In 28.1 innings, Peterson allowed 20 hits, walked 10 and struck out 38. He's been particularly tough on left-handed hitters, allowing just 3 hits in 44 at-bats (.068 average).
Peterson was selected by the Blue Jays in the fourth round of the 2002 draft out of Wichita State. He played for Auburn (NYP) in 2002, and pitched for Charleston (SAL), Dunedin (FSL) and New Haven (EL) in 2003.
In his last 9 outings for New Hampshire, dating back to May 26, Peterson worked 8.2 innings, allowing 2 hits, and no runs.
