New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Bowie opened a 5-0 lead after four innings and held off the Fisher Cats 9-6 in the opening game of a four-game series Monday night at Prince George's Stadium. The Baysox snapped a six-game losing streak. First baseman Walter Young (2-for-5) hit two homers and drove in five runs for the Baysox. He hit a three-run homer in the third and a two-run shot in the eighth. The home runs were his 17th and 18th of the season. Keith Reed went 3-for-5 and scored 2 runs while Mitchell Huggins hit his first home run of the season. Bowie starter Scott Rice (5-4) won for the fifth time this season. New Hampshire starter Ryan Houston (3-1) lost for the first time this season. Danny Solano plated two runs for the Fishers, and John-Ford Griffin hit a home run and scored twice.
The teams will play the next three nights, the only meeting of the year in Bowie.

Players to watch
RHP Adam Peterson was called up today by the Toronto Blue Jays. He left Manchester this morning after meeting with the media. In 27 games for the Fisher Cats, Peterson had 15 saves. Peterson, a Wichita State grad, is the first player to suit up for the Fishers to make the parent club. Peterson will be in uniform tonight when the Blue Jays play Tampa Bay. Shortstop Aaron Hill leads the team in hitting in the month of June. Hill, the team's second round draft pick last year, is 24-for-75, .320 in June. Tonight's starter Gustavo Chacin has had a very rough month. In three starts this month, he's given up 18 runs in 12.1 innings (13.14 ERA). Walter Young continues to be highly productive for Bowie. He has hit 4 HR, 3 doubles and driven in 9 runs over the last 8 games. Young's average is now up to a season high .242. He has had two hits in 6 of the last 10 Baysox games.
