Juice Split Two With Foxhounds

Aiken, SC- The Bradenton Juice split two games today with the Aiken Foxhounds with game one being the completion of Saturday's suspended game and game two was the regularly scheduled game for today. Bradenton fell in game one by a score of 3-1 in 14 innings, but the Juice bounced back to hold on for the 4-3 win in game two.

Game one started in the Bottom of the 10th inning with Aiken at the plate and Rocky Collis pitching for Bradenton. Collis was able to pitch out of numerous jams in 3.1 innings of work and David Lipson relieved him in the 13th. The game was tied at one in the Bottom of the 14th and with a runner on base Chad Miller smacked a game winning two-run homerun over the center field wall that gave the Foxhounds the 3-1 victory.

RHP David Lipson (0-1) took the loss for Bradenton while Gary Lee (1-0) got the win for Aiken.

Thirty minutes later the two squads squared off in Thursday's scheduled game. Bradenton got on the scoreboard early in the Bottom of the 1st. Luke Barganier led off with a walk and Julius Thames followed with an infield single. Two batters later Eddie Kim singled to left field driving in Barganier. The next batter Noah Peery smacked a single to center field that drove home Thames giving the Juice a 2-0 lead.

Bradenton scored two more runs in the 3rd inning. With two outs Noah Peery tripled to left field and Brenan Herrera followed with a single to center field driving home Peery. The next batter third baseman Jean Castro doubled to center field that drove home Herrera giving the Juice a 4-0 advantage.

Lavelle Morgan got the start on the mound for Bradenton and he went the first 3.1 innings without allowing a run before giving up a solo home run to left field by Kelly Hunt. The homer ended a 19.1 inning shutout streak for Morgan that included a complete game, one hit shutout on June 7th.

In the 5th inning Garth McKinnney led off the inning with a solo home run to left field and in the 6th Bradley Key led off with a solo homer to left field.

Lavelle Morgan pitched 7 innings, then Wayne Hedden pitched an inning, and Steve Alverson pitched the 9th picking up his league leading 6th save of the season as Bradenton won 4-3.

Morgan (3-1) got the win pitching 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits walking none, and striking out eight. Reid Price (2-2) takes the loss for Aiken as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 4 runs, 3 earned, on 12 hits, walking 3 batters and striking out 7 Juice batters.

Bradenton is now 15-8 while Aiken is just behind in the South Coast League standings at 15-9. The Juice are in a tie for 2nd place with South Georgia and 0.5 games behind Macon while the Foxhounds are 1 game out of first.
