June 15, 2007 - South Coast League (SCL)
Charlotte County Redfish News Release

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL- The Redfish came into Anderson, South Carolina and from the time they stepped onto the field, they meant business. Although they fell behind after the 1st inning, the Redfish went on a tear with great hitting and great pitching as they crushed the Joes 13-5.

Tyler Addison (1-2), the Anderson Joes' starter, threw six straight balls to start the game before he tossed his first strike. Sam Martinez drew a lead off walk on four pitches and stole second. Ramon Downing drove home his 18th run of the season with a hard hit single to left field to put the Redfish up 1-0 early. The Joes answered against Daniel Chaffardet as Travis Hundley came around to score when Heath Keel grounded into a 4-6-3 double play. The Joes added two more runs on RBI singles by Ryan Pressley and Kevin Noles and the Joes were up 3-1.

The Redfish moved within a run in the top of 3rd as Martinez walked for the second time and scored on a Downing ground out. The Redfish didn't trail for much longer when they came to the plate in top of the 4th inning. With PJ Lehmann on third and Anthony Sandstrom on first, Billy Kovatch, a recent roster addition, drove home his first RBI in a Redfish uniform. Kovatch went 2-for-2 on the night with 2 singles, 2 stolen bases, 2 walks and 2 runs scored. The Redfish batted around in the 4th innings and plated 7 runs on 7 hits including a 3-run homerun to leftfield for shortstop Josh Murray. The Redfish wouldn't look back as they added two runs in both 8th and 9th innings to take home the 13-5 victory.

Mike Moscato, another recent roster addition, had himself a good night going 4-for-6 with 3 RBIs on 4 hits including a triple to right field in the top of the 8th inning. Moscato was great defensively as he started behind home plate, giving William Plaza the night off and he also played some first base.

Chaffardet got a no-decision as he threw 2.2 innings and allowed only 1 ER on 4 hits. He struck out two and walked four. Justin Ottman (1-0) chalked up his first victory in a Redfish uniform with 2.1 innings pitched. He allowed 2 Joes to come home on 3 hits with only 2 free passes and 2 strikeouts. Justin Wichert and Aristedes Almenar provided great relief for the Redfish as well as they threw a combined 4.0 innings allowing only 4 hits and striking out 6 Joes' hitters.
