Juice fall short against Foxhounds

Aiken, SC- Bradenton scored first on Saturday night vs. the Aiken Foxhounds but it could not hold on as the Juice lost to the Foxhounds 8-3. For the second consecutive night the Foxhounds had a big inning this time scoring 4 runs in the 8th.

Bradenton scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning with Brenan Hererra hitting a one-out single to left field. After Hererra stole second base Nick Corbeil smacked a single back up the middle for a base hit that drove in Hererra making it 1-0 Juice. Up next Zach Woodward doubled to right field and with runners on first and third base Julius Thames hit a ground ball to the shortstop but his throw was off line to first base allowing Thames to reach first on the error and Corbeil to score giving Bradenton a 2-0 lead.

Aiken stormed back in the 5th inning with Josh Eachues leading off with an infield single and he reached second base on a throwing error. The next batter Tim Drew singled to right field plating Eachues cutting the Juice lead to 2-1. Scott Houin then came to the plate and he lifted a 2-run homerun over the left field wall putting Aiken on top 3-2.

The Foxhounds added a run in the 6th when Ban Bando led off with a solo homer, his second homerun in as many days.

Down 4-2 entering the 8th inning the Juice were just a couple of feet away from regaining the lead. Luke Barganier led off with an infield single and Al Corbeil followed with a single to right field. With runners on first and third base Mikela Olsen hit a deep drive to right field that was caught at the wall just a couple of feet from going out by right fielder Scott Houin. Barganier came in to score on the play from third base cutting the deficit to 4-3.

Aiken broke open the game in the Bottom of the 8th as the Foxhounds sent 9 batters to the plate scoring 4 runs in the inning.

Lavelle Morgan (4-4) took the loss for Bradenton going 5.2 innings allowing 4 runs (all earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4 batters. Tim Drew (3-3) gets the win for Aiken pitching 8 inning allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, on 8 hits, walking 0 and striking out 5 batters.

Bradenton is now 4-2 in the second half of the season and 28-22 overall while Aiken improves to 2-3 in the second half and 24-26 overall.

Of note for the Juice Al Corbeil went 3-4 with 2 singles and a double while Zach Woodward was 2-4 with a double and a single.
