Charleston Swamp Foxes News Release
NORTH CHARLESTON, SC â Quarterback Johnny Turman and his favorite target from last week, Joe Judge, have been selected Players of the Week by the Fox Hole Fan Club and Charleston Swamp Foxes' front office.
This week marks the third-time this season Judge has been tabbed by the Fox Hole Fan Club as its top performer, and second week in a row. On the season, Judge has five total player of the week selections. For Turman, his selection from the front office is his third this season and his fourth overall.
In last week's loss to Greensboro, Judge caught eight passes for 155 yards and four scores on offense to lead all receivers. He hauled in a game-long 42-yard scoring strike from rookie QB Johnny Turman in the fourth quarter to keep the Foxes close down the stretch. On the season, Judge has hauled in 48 passes for a team-high 631 yards, an average of 63.1 per game, and currently leads the team in all-purpose yards, averaging 84.4 per contest.
Defensively, Judge tallied nine total tackles, including seven solo stops and a half a tackle for loss, as he moved into third on the team in tackles. He also broke up a pair of passes.
Turman's record-breaking season continued as he completed 23-of-39 passes for a team single-game record 367 yards and a record-tying eight touchdowns in the losing effort. He also caught a two-point conversion pass from WR/LB Leroy McFadden. Turman tied his own single-game TD record, and surpassed the single-game yardage mark of 350 yards in which he set in the June 21 loss to Macon.
Needing 308 yards to break Ray Isaac's two-year old single-season passing yardage record, Turman threw for 367 to raise the bar. Turman also entered the game tied with Isaac for the single-season touchdown pass record. A mere 1:42 into the game, Turman found the Swamp Foxes all-time leading scorer, Mike Chandler, all alone for a 34-yard scoring strike thus writing Turman's name into the record books yet again.
The Swamp Foxes take their playoff hopes to Bossier City, LA this Friday night as they take on the Bossier City Battle Wings. Game time is 7:30 pm CST. The broadcast can be heard on ESPN Radio 1340 AM starting at 8:10 pm EST.
