Greensboro Prowlers News Release

CHICAGO—Greensboro Prowlers WR/DB Bobby Sippio has earned the Iroman of the Week for the arenafootball2 league for the second time this season. Even more unique for Sippio, he has achieved this award in consecutive weeks, joining an only three other players that have accomplished such a feat. Even more remarkable is that the play of Sippio is this marks his third Ironman of the Week award this season. He is the first player to win three Ironman awards in the same season since Lennie Johnson did it in 2001.

Continuing to make his mark in league history, Sippio joins Xavier Patterson, Quad City Steamwheelers (2000); Ken Harvey, Richmond Speed (2001); and Nian Taylor, Hawaiian Islanders (2002) as the only players to earn the award in consecutive weeks.

Against the Charleston Swamp Foxes, Sippio (6-2, 215, Western Kentucky), a rookie, followed up his Week 14 Ironman of the Week performance with another outstanding all-around effort in the Prowlers 76-62 win last Saturday. Sippio caught six passes for 96 yards and six touchdowns, which led all Prowlers receivers in the game. Defensively, Sippio totaled 5.5 tackles, three passes defended and he grabbed a fourth quarter interception off red-hot Charleston quarterback Johnny Turman. On special teams, Sippio returned one missed field goal for 20 yards and three kickoffs for 66 yards, including a 31-yard runback in the first quarter that set up Greensboro's first score of the night.

The Prowlers have an opportunity to gain even more ground in the race for the American Atlantic Division, when they face the Cape Fear Wildcats on Saturday, July 12th at the Greensboro Coliseum, beginning at 7:30. The Prowlers look to avenge a 36-35 loss in Fayetteville, in their last home game of the season, and move to second place in the division at the same time.
