Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa â The Steamwheelers will eclipse a franchise mark this upcoming weekend when they take on the San Diego Riptide. When the 25th fan walks through the turnstiles this Saturday night, they will be the 250,000th fan to do so.
The lucky number 250,000th fan will receive quite a few perks just for attending the game. They will deliver the game ball as well as participate with Pat Miletich in the coin toss ceremony.
The fan will also receive a $250 gift certificate good for future tickets as well as their choice of either a game ball or jersey autographed by the team.
With the current total attendance sitting at 249,975 that gives the Steamwheelers an average of 6,944 in the span of 36 games in four seasons. The Steamwheelers are gearing up for a big game with the Riptide this Saturday night at The MARK of the Quad Cities, after a 28-day drought from the building, with playoff incentives on the line.
If the Steamwheelers win, they will be assured of a first round bye and a home field for at least the second round and finish no worse than second in the National Conference race.
The âWheelers are already assured of at worst a first round home game and finish no worse than #3 in the conference race.
A week following the Riptide game, on Saturday, July 19th, the Steamwheelers will host the undefeated Tennessee Valley Vipers. The Vipers, who won 20-13 against Memphis on Saturday night, could bring an undefeated mark into The MARK, pending the outcome of their upcoming game against the Florida Firecats on Saturday night in Tennessee Valley.
Good tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased at The MARK box office or through TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 563.326.1111.
The Steamwheelers will then finish the regular season up against their "War on I-74" rival Peoria Pirates in Peoria, Ill. at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26th. Fans looking to go to the game can purchase special discounted tickets by calling Steamwheelers Ticketing Director Brian Forth at 563.324.HUTT.
Don't miss your chance to see championship pro football right here in the Quad Cities. The Steamwheelers have won three National Conference Midwest Divisional titles in their four-year history and have qualified for the playoffs three of four years as well. (It would have been four out of four had it not been for league sanctions in the 2002 season). The âWheelers also won the af2's first two ArenaCup's in 2000 and 2001. Quad City spells championship football.
