Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
DAVENPORT, Iowa â The "Brawl Between the Walls" will take a whole other meaning this Saturday night when the Quad City Steamwheelers take on the San Diego Riptide at The MARK of the Quad Cities.
Ultimate Fighting champion and legend Pat Miletich will be on hand for the game and will do the coin toss prior to the 7:30 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.
The Bettendorf, Iowa native has had a very successful career in Ultimate Fighting. The 5'10" â 180 lb. Miletich has held the Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight/Welterweight World Champion title and is an Extreme Challenge, Superbrawl and World Extreme Fighting veteran.
His career started October 28, 1995 with a defeat of Yasunori Matsumoto in the Battle of the Masters. He then went on to win his next 14 bouts before losing. The "Croation Sensation," as he is known, has posted a 28-6-2 using a Freestyle Jiu-Jitsu stlye when fighting.
"I thought that it would be a great idea to have a local hero who is known nationally do the coin toss," Managing Owner/Operator and Arena Football Inventor Jim Foster said of having Miletich apart of the pre-game show.
After a bye week and trips to Hawaii and Green Bay, the âWheelers will finally return home to the friendly confines of The MARK of the Quad Cities after a 28 day break from their home arena. The game against the Riptide will kickoff at 7: 30 p.m. on Saturday.
A week following that game, on Saturday, July 19th, the Steamwheelers will host the undefeated Tennessee Valley Vipers. The Vipers, who won 20-13 against Memphis on Saturday night, could bring an undefeated mark into The MARK, pending the outcome of their upcoming game against the Florida Firecats on Saturday night in Tennessee Valley.
Good tickets are still available for both games and can be purchased at The MARK box office or through TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 563.326.1111.
