Charleston Swamp Foxes News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Charleston Swamp Foxes' rookie linebacker Marlon Moye-Moore was signed late last week by the Arena Football League's Orlando Predators, the team announced today.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Moye-Moore will join teammate – and Swamp Foxes' all-time leading defender, Michael Brown – in Orlando. He also became the sixth Swamp Fox from 2003 to be signed by an AFL team. Moye-Moore joins Rob Bironas (Carolina Cobras), Antionne Scott (Arizona Rattlers), Demont Smith (Grand Rapids Rampage), and Larrell Johnson (Georgia Force) who have already inked deals for 2004.

Last season, Moye-Moore appeared in all 16 games for Charleston, earning second-team all-af2 accolades in his first-ever season. Offensively, the 6-2, 250-pound fullback led the team in rushing, tallying 122 yards on 33 carries and eight touchdowns. He also caught seven passes for 114 yards and a pair of scores out of the backfield.

On defense, the rookie finished fourth on the team in tackles, tallying 33 total stops with 19 solos. He also totaled both four and a half tackles for loss and four and a half sacks. As the blitzing linebacker, Moye-Moore recorded fourteen quarterback hurries, forced three fumbles, and recovered a pair of loose footballs helping the Swamp Foxes to the af2-leading 50 takeaways.

"Marlon (Moye-Moore) was a huge asset for us both offensively and defensively this past season," said Swamp Foxes head coach Rik Richards. "He has good foot speed, even better hands, and can deliver strong hits on defense.

As a collegiate player, Moye-Moore played all four years at the University of Maryland, tallying 278 tackles over his career. He recorded130 stops as a sophomore, which earned him All-ACC Honorable Mention, and 108 tackles as a junior. He was limited to three games as a senior due to an injury, but made the most of his time, tallying 31 tackles, including one for loss.

Moye-Moore joins an Orlando franchise that has had its share of success, which includes six ArenaBowl appearances and a pair of AFL Championships in 2000 and 1998. Last year, the Predators finished with an overall mark of 13-5, falling in the semifinals to eventual AFL champion, and in-state rival, the Tampa Bay Storm.
