Charleston Swamp Foxes News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – Fans and Lowcountry residents will have two great opportunities to catch your Charleston Swamp Foxes and their loveable mascot Sly Fox this weekend.

The Foxes will be at the Family Fun Day, sponsored by the Fleet and Family Support Center at the Naval Weapons Station on Friday, November 7. Sly and staff will also spend the day celebrating the fall season with the Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission at the Harvest Fest on Saturday, November 8.

The Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) is dedicated to the support of military families and the stresses that accompany being one, such as dealing with deployment, spousal career options, and relocation assistance.

The Family Fun Day event is a part of the Military Family Appreciation Month celebrated during November. This is a time to honor the service and selflessness of military families that play a supportive role that is crucial to a service member's success and military readiness goals.

Family Fun Day will take place at Locklear Park on Webster Street in Goose Creek at the Naval Weapons Station from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Military families, as well as the community, are invited out to help these families have a great day free of charge.

On Saturday, November 8, the Swamp Foxes will be at the 2003 Harvest Festival at the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center at Johns Island County Park, presented by the Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission. The event will feature art & crafts, barbecue, children's activities, hayrides, live foot-stompin' bluegrass, a scarecrow making contest, and much more.

Five bluegrass bands, including two that have performed in the Swamp Foxes' tailgate zone, will take the stage during the event. Fox fans will probably recognize the pickin' of the Yee Haw Junction and the soulful sounds of Common Ground. Also performing will be the groups Homeboy Discount Band, Southern Flavor, and the Sounds of Grass.

The day will also include the finals for WEZL's Carolina Idol 2.

Admission is only $2.00 for adults with children two and under admitted free. Also, park Gold Pass holders will be admitted free.

For more information on the 2003 Harvest Festival, or for directions to the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center for Saturday's Harvest Festival, please visit the Charleston County Parks & Recreation Commission online at http://www.ccprc.com.
