Jubinville's Hat-Trick Lifts Oilers Past Beast

Tulsa Oilers News Release
TULSA, OK - Rookie forward Jeff Jubinville notched a power play goal, a shorthanded strike, and an even-strength tally to complete his first career hat-trick and help the Tulsa Oilers earn a 5-2 victory over the Brampton Beast on Thursday evening at the BOK Center. Jubinville recorded his third multi-goal game of the season as the Oilers, playing on home ice for the first time in over three weeks, snapped a three-game skid and took over sole possession of third place in the Central Division.
For the third straight meeting between the two clubs, the Beast was the first side on the scoreboard. Brampton center Justin Donati completed a nifty deke in front of Tulsa goalie Brandon Anderson at 6:41 of the opening period to give the visitors an early 1-0 advantage. With the Oilers on a power play in the closing seconds of the frame, a snap shot from Jubinville hit the top corner of the net to the level the contest at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. The Oilers capitalized on the man-advantage for the first time in four games and ended an 0-for-13 power play streak.
The game remained deadlocked until the 16:24 mark of the second period when a shorthanded rush created Jubinville's second goal of the night. A pass from Drew Fisher bounced across the top of the Brampton crease and with Beast goalie Trevor Cann sprawling to cover the far post, Jubinville was able to jam the puck into the cage to provide Tulsa with its first lead of the night. The 16th goal of the year for Jubinville was the Oilers' fifth shorthanded tally of the season. Tulsa's 2-1 edge lasted only 48 seconds as Beast forward Jason Pitton swatted a power play rebound past Anderson at 17:12 to tie the tilt for the second time. As quickly as the momentum had shifted to the Beast, it swung back to the Oilers thanks to Jubinville. The Edmonton native stepped into a slap shot in the high slot at 17:49 and ripped the puck past Cann to complete the hat-trick.
The Oilers' lead grew to two goals at 6:32 of the third period off a display of speed and skill from Tommy Mele. The fourth-year pro darted down the right wing of the Brampton zone and cut to the top of the crease before tucking a forehand past Cann for his 13th goal of the season. T.J. Caig, who had only found the net three times in his previous 29 games, put the finishing touches on the Tulsa win by burying a pass from Jon Booras at 18:02. Oilers defenseman Kevin Noble, back in the lineup after missing the past four contests, created the opportunity with a stretch pass to Booras which led to a perfectly orchestrated 2-on-0 rush in front of a helpless Cann.
Anderson turned in a 21-save performance for his first win as an Oiler and newly acquired forward, Brady Ramsay, made his presence felt with a second period fight against Brampton defenseman Brayden Rose. The Oilers improved to 3-0-0 against the Beast and 6-0-0 all-time against the Beast at the BOK Center. Jubinville scored his goals on only four shots and Fisher registered an assist on each one of Jubinville's strikes.
The Oilers and Beast finish off their two-game series on Friday night at 7:35 p.m. at the BOK Center.
