Springfield Jr. Blues News Release

The term "power forward" is used in hockey today when describing a big winger who plays big and can score. When you think of a true power forward most people do not think of a player who is 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds. Then again most people do not have a player like Jeff Gumaer on their team.

The Webster Groves, Missouri, native enters his third season for the Jr. Blues and head coach Nick Pollos thinks Gumaer has what it takes.

"Jeff is such a complete player for us, he scores, he can skate, plays solid in his own end and he can grind it out with the best of them. Jeff can do it all," says Pollos.

Gumaer, who plays along side 05' Merrimack recruit Alex Semenov and the highly-skilled Colin Kingston, brings just the right mix to the Jr. Blues top line. Pollos says, "He is such a powerful player that many people underestimate him."

Although Gumaer has not yet made his college plans, there are several schools who would love to have him. Currently, Gumaer has posted a 9-7-16 line in 14 games for the Jr. Blues with two goals on the power play and three game-winning goals.

The Jr. Blues play host to the Santa Fe Roadrunners this weekend at the Nelson Center. Game time Friday is 7:30 p.m. and Saturday the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. For information on the Springfield Jr. Blues see the Jr. Blues official website.
