Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
The Wichita Falls Wildcats added three more victories this weekend as they stretched their winning streak to six straight.
The Wildcats played the Central Texas Marshals at home on Friday and on the road on Saturday and Sunday, winning all three games. The Cats are on a roll and have now won eight of their last nine games.
With the help of the best fans in the NAHL the Wildcats were able to jump out to an early 3-0 lead Friday at the Kay Yeager Coliseum, and they never looked back, winning easily by a score of 5-1.
Eight different Wildcats scored points in this win. Drew Walters got the Wildcats started, scoring the first goal of the game with assists by Dan Medenwaldt and Chris Ochoa. Dave Lewandowski added the second goal with Chad Costello assisting on the play. Kyle Kraemer scored the third goal of the game with an assist by Kevin Huck. Costello scored the next two goals for the Wildcats, one of which was unassisted, and the other goal was assisted by Peter Zamkochyan.
Zamkochyan provided much more excitement than just an assist. He electrified the crowd by fighting with the Marshals Mike Grzanowski. Zamkochyan landed some big blows, before eventually clobbering the Central Texas player to the ice.
Tom Billick was the game winning goaltender allowing only one goal and grabbing 27 saves.
Saturday's game went down to the wire, as the Wildcats overcame a three-goal deficit, scoring the game-winning goal with less than a second remaining in regulation.
The Marshals got off to a quick start scoring three straight goals to open the game. The Wildcats never gave up as they slowly clawed their way back into this game. Ochoa scored the Wildcats first goal with Derek Hansberry and Nick Klaren assisting. Huck scored the next two goals with Klaren assisting on both goals and Hansberry on one.
With time quickly counting down, Brent Sarcone received a pass from Wolgemuth and put the puck in the back of the net with only .03 seconds on the clock, giving the Wildcats a 4-3 win.
On Sunday, the Wildcats again found themselves down early as Central Texas quickly jumped out to a 2-0 lead. After giving up two early goals, the Wildcats defense clamped down and did not allow another score. Goaltender Tyler Brigl got his first win of the season.
Skylur Jameson scored the first goal for the Wildcats in the second period with an assist by Walters. Huck tied the game in the third period with a power play goal that was assisted by Wolgemuth. Kraemer scored the game winner as the Wildcats won 3-2 and improved their overall record to 8-5.
The Wildcats will be at home again on November 12 and 13, and are looking for continued fan support as they attempt to extend their current six-game winning streak.
