Tornado sweep Roadrunners to widen South Division lead

Behind, the strong goaltending of Ben Bishop, the defending National Champion Texas Tornado swept the Santa Fe Roadrunners this past weekend in a three-game series.

On Friday, the Tornado won 5-3 in front of a sold out crowd of 3,849 in Frisco. Karl Sellan had two goals and an assist, including the game-winning goal and Brad Cooper had four points with a goal and three assists.

On Saturday, in Santa Fe, the Tornado won again 5-3 behind two goals and an assist from team captain Tom Train. Mike Salens and Justin Liut had a goal and an assist apiece.

Sunday, the Tornado completed the sweep of Santa Fe with a 2-1 shootout win. Rookie Ben Grotting had the only goal in regulation for the Tornado and Salens scored the game-winner in the shootout.

TORNADO RAISE $17,500 FOR CHARITY DURING HALLOWEEN JERSEY AUCTION

The Texas Tornado Foundation, paired with the Mike Modano Foundation raised $17,500 for children's charities this past Friday night as they held a jersey auction to sell their special Halloween jerseys worn during the Friday, October 29 game vs. Santa Fe. Mike Salens had the highest selling jersey, which went for $2,000. Also, over 700 cans of food were collected for the Tornado Canned Food Drive benefiting Frisco Family Services.
