Jose Rivera Joins Isotopes, C Matt McBride Placed on Disabled List

Infielder Jose Rivera joined the Albuquerque Isotopes this morning from Extended Spring Training, and catcher Matt McBride was placed on the disabled list with a strained right oblique, retroactive to April 15.

Rivera begins his seventh season in the Colorado Rockies organization. During the 2014 season, he spent 37 games at Double-A Tulsa where he hit .250 with seven doubles, two triples and 11 RBI. This will be his Triple-A debut.

McBride has appeared in six games with the Isotopes this season, hitting .175 with two doubles, a homer, two RBI and four walks. He strained his right oblique during Monday night's game against Tacoma.

The Isotopes (5-2) are set to take on the Tacoma Rainiers (2-5) in the homestand finale this afternoon at 12:05. Left-hander John Lannan (0-0, 0.00) is set to take the hill for the Isotopes, while right Sam Gaviglio (1-0, 0.00) will get the start for Tacoma.
