Salt Lake Bees News Release

FRESNO (April 15, 2015)- A throwing error by third baseman Kyle Kubitza allowed the winning run to score, as the Fresno Grizzlies edged the Salt Lake Bees 9-8 in eleven innings on Wednesday night. Matt Duffy led off the 11th with a double to right center off of Salt Lake pitcher Ryan Mattheus (0-2). After Preston Tucker was intentionally walked, Matt Dominguez laid down a sacrifice bunt and Kubitza's throw sailed over the head of first baseman Marc Krauss to allow pinch runner Nolan Fontana to score the winning run.

The Bees forced extra innings by scoring five runs in the top of the ninth inning. A two run double by Josh Rutledge, a sacrifice fly by Alex Yarbrough and an RBI single by Jett Bandy brought Salt Lake to within one. Daniel Robertson lined a double to the left field corner to bring home Kieschnick with the tying run, but Bandy was thrown out at the plate trying to score the go ahead run. Fresno took the lead in the first, as they scored seven runs, four earned, off of Bees' starter Andrew Heaney. Rutledge led Salt Lake with a pair of double and three runs batted in, while Bandy chipped in with three hits and one RBI.

The Bees will play their home opener at Smith's Ballpark on Friday, April 17 at 6:35 p.m. with a fireworks show postgame. Tickets and additional information is available at www.slbees.com.
