April 18, 2017 - International League (IL1)
Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Indians, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Pirates, today announced that first baseman/outfielder Jose Osuna was recalled to the big leagues. In a corresponding move, first baseman/outfielder Joey Terdoslavich was transferred from extended spring training to Indianapolis, leaving the Indians' roster at 25 active players.
Osuna, 24, hit .250 (9-for-36) with five doubles and one RBI in 10 games for the Tribe this season. Last year, he opened his campaign at Double-A Altoona and batted .269 (68-for-253) with 27 extra-base hits and 38 RBI in 70 contests. Those strong numbers earned him a promotion to Indy, where he hit .291 (64-for-220) with 19 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBI in 63 games.
Named by MiLB.com as a Pirates Organization All-Star for a third consecutive season, Pittsburgh rewarded the rising slugger by adding him to its 40-man roster on Nov. 5, 2016. He backed Pittsburgh's move by being one of baseball's best hitters this spring, hitting .404 (22-for-54) with four doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI in 22 spring training affairs.
