Jose Canseco Will Not Play for WhiteWings Tonight
August 6, 2012 - North American League (NAmL)
Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release
The Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings announce outfielder Jose Canseco will not be in their lineup for their 7:05 p.m. game at McAllen in Edinburg Baseball Stadium tonight.
The delay is the result of contractual obligations with his previous team, the Worcester Tornadoes of the Canadian-American Association, as well as his current bankruptcy.
Canseco filed for Chapter Seven bankruptcy in Nevada on Tuesday, July 31.
The WhiteWings are working feverishly to resolve this issue with Canseco's legal issues with the Tornadoes.
"We have to allow him to work out his legal issues and earlier family matters," said Doug Robinson, WhiteWings general manager. "The WhiteWings are working with Mr. Canseco closely to get him in the lineup as soon as possible."
Canseco wrote about playing for the WhiteWings on his twitter account on Saturday.
"Harlingen, Texas is where [the] Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings play. Good think (sic) I did nor (sic) send my bats to Rio Grande, Texas," Canseco wrote.
"The Rio Grande Valley will never be the same."
