Abilene Prairie Dogs News Release

ABILENE, Tx - Inevitably, there are instances throughout the course of a 96-game schedule where things simply do not go your way. The Prairie Dogs experienced one of those nights on Monday in Abilene. Colts' starter Mark Willinsky allowed only five hits over eight innings on the way to a 10-3 San Angelo victory at Walt Driggers Field.

Abilene left-hander Sean White took the hill for his second professional start on Monday night. The rookie allowed four hits in the first inning, including a Daryl Jones' two-run triple, before yielding Landon Camp's 11th home run in the second frame, a two run blast that gave San Angelo a 5-0 lead.

In the third, Cory Patton struck a leadoff double in front of a Danny Hernandez single, moving Patton to third. Mark Ramos followed with an R.B.I. groundout to help build a 6-0 advantage.

The Dogs hopped on the board for the first time when Wilson Batista drove in Davis Page with a single to left field.

In his fifth start of the year against Abilene, Mark Willinsky remained in command all night. The Nevada-born righty faced only four batters in the fourth and retiring the side in order in both the fifth and sixth innings - at one point, Willinsky retired eight consecutive batters.

Braden Tullis was the first to relieve the starter Sean White, and he the 22-year-old righty allowed a run in the fourth and an unearned tally in the sixth as the Colts snatched an 8-1 lead.

Abilene built a small rally against Willinsky in the seventh when the Dogs strung together three consecutive hits from Danny Gonzalez, Page, and a run-scoring knock from Eddie Browne. After Jason Martin drove in the third run on a fielder's choice, the Dogs found themselves behind 8-3 as the game moved to the eighth.

Jeremy Tietze stranded a pair of runners in the seventh but allowed a two-run double to Daryl Jones in the eighth as the Colts widened their lead back to seven (10-3).

The large buzz hovering over Walt Driggers Field throughout Monday centered on Kevin Gelinas. The New York Yankees purchased the 23-year-old lefty's contract from the Prairie Dogs on Monday afternoon. A few hours later, Gelinas performed for the final time in a Dogs' uniform, firing a scoreless inning and fanning two batters.

As Gelinas heads east to become the newest member of the Yankees minor league system, the Prairie Dogs head back to Foster Field for a 7:05 first pitch on Tuesday night. Hear the game on 106.9 KLGD beginning with the First Financial Pregame Show at 6:55.
