Fort Worth Cats News Release
Fort Worth right fielder Chuck Caufield and center fielder RJ Harris went deep in Monday's 9-3 win over the Edinburg RoadRunners at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, TX. Caufield's was his fourth of the year and Harris' was his second of the year. Caufield also added a pair of singles in the game and Harris tripled an inning before he took a Rusty Jones pitch over the right field wall.
"I don't know where [my power] came from. I guess it was the [All Sport] drink that we got tonight," Harris said.
Shelby Ford also played a large role in the Cats' offensive hitting 2-for-2 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Ford reached base safely in each of his four at-bats, drawing a hit-by-pitch and a walk in the third and fifth innings respectively.
"If [the middle hitters] get going, it's going to be a long day for the other team," Ford said.
The Fort Worth batters made it very easy on starter Blake Parry (4-3) who despite allowing eleven hits in his 7 2/3 innings of work on Monday, only allowed three runs. The RoadRunners left men on third base on five occasions in the game. Kane Holbrooks pitched the final four outs and set down Edinburg hitters on strikes four times to seal the win. " Luckily they were swinging right through my fastball, because that's all I threw," Holbrooks said.
Cats' hitters were nightmares for the RoadRunners pitching staff, scoring six runs on six hits against starter Aaron Tullo (3-3) in his six inning outing. Fort Worth scored three more on four hits against reliever Rusty Jones who pitched the final two innings of relief for Tullo.
With the win, the Cats moved one game closer to the first place RoadRunners, who now only hold a two game lead over Fort Worth.
The two squads will face off for game three of the four game series Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. at LaGrave Field. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817) 332-CATS.
