Jordan Tkatch records first career hat trick as part of five-goal second period

Prince Albert, SK - 20-year-old forward Jordan Tkatch registered his first WHL hat trick as the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Kootenay Ice 7-1 on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

Prince Albert matched a season-high by scoring five goals during the second period. The team also tied a franchise record by scoring two goals five seconds apart when Tkatch and Reid Gardiner found the back of the net at 18:56 and 19:01 of the middle frame.

Tkatch finished the night with three goals and one assist for four points. Gardiner and Simon Stransky each had a goal and two helpers for three points. Jesse Lees and Vojtech Budik both had two assists, while Parker Kelly and Luke Coleman scored goals.

Kootenay got their lone tally of the game from Tanner Lishchynsky, who opened the scoring at the 15:43 mark of the first period.

Raiders' goaltender Rylan Parenteau made 29 saves on 30 attempts.

Wyatt Hoflin got the start for the Ice and kicked out 21 of 28 shots on goal. Declan Hobbs stopped all nine shots in relief.

The Raiders outshot the Ice 37-30. Prince Albert went 1-for-3 on the power play, while Kootenay was 0-for-2.

Prince Albert boosts their record to 35-21-7-1 and move four points ahead of the Moose Jaw Warriors in the East Division standings. Kootenay falls to 10-49-6-0 on the campaign.
