Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (38-26, 73-60) were down to their final out of the game before Rowdey Jordan rocketed a walk-off two-run double to knock down the Reading Fightin Phils, 2-1, on Thursday night at Mirabito Stadium.
The Rumble Ponies trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the ninth inning. Rhylan Thomas led off the frame with an opposite-field single. Two batters later, Jett Williams worked a walk and Drew Gilbert followed with a walk to load the bases. Later in the inning, Jordan smoked a two-out walk-off two-run double to left-center field, driving in Thomas and Williams to win the game 2-1.
It was Jordan's third walk-off RBI of the season. He drew a walk-off walk against Richmond on May 28 and hit a walk-off single against Portland on June 18.
Joander Suarez continued his dominance at the Double-A level. Suarez struck out a Double-A career-high nine batters over five scoreless innings. He has thrown 18-straight scoreless innings over his first three starts at the Double-A level.
Brendan Hardy came in to relieve Suarez in the sixth. Hardy struck out two over a perfect sixth inning. He then allowed Reading (30-35, 58-75) to score its lone run on a solo home run from Baron Radcliff in the seventh. Hardy struck out four batters over two innings of work.
Paul Gervase (2-0) pitched the eighth and ninth innings and kept the Ponies in the game. He struck out six batters, while allowing just one baserunner via a walk over two scoreless innings.
The Rumble Ponies continue their series with the Fightin Phils on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and pregame coverage will begin at 6:50 p.m. on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
