Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release
Colorado Springs, CO (March 7, 2019) - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC officially announced today that Jordan Burt will be the team captain for the 2019 season.
Burt is returning to the Switchbacks for his fifth season in Colorado Springs after becoming a mainstay in the starting lineup since the Switchbacks inaugural season in 2015. Burt's versatility in defense and midfield has allowed him to amass 9,447 minutes in his professional career. He has recently become a goal scoring threat, scoring eight goals in 2017 and six goals in 2018 for the Switchbacks, tying for the team lead last season.
"Jordan has been with this club from the beginning and he has always been part of my leadership on the team, so it is his time to take the captaincy," said Switchbacks Head Coach, Steve Trittschuh. "His communication to the team is very good and the players will follow his lead to have success."
"It is crazy to think that I am going into my fifth season with the club and it is an honor to be captaining the team this year. Tritt gave me my first opportunity to prove myself in this league and is now trusting me with the armband," said Burt. "I owe a lot to him and the club and I will do my best to lead this team back to being a dominate force in the league."
The Switchbacks will kick off their 2019 USL Championship season on the road to the Los Angeles Galaxy II on March 9th. The home opener is on March 16th as they host the Sacramento Republic FC at 6:00 PM at Weidner Field for a St. Paddy's Day celebration with fireworks and 16oz $1 beer for the first 30 minutes after gates open at 5:00 PM. Tickets start at just $12 and are available HERE. For the price of a Switchbacks ticket and 2-5 beers, it is cheaper than buying 2-5 beers at a bar or restaurant.
