Jones returns to Rampage

SAN ANTONIO (Mar. 21, 2006) - The San Antonio Rampage today announced that the Phoenix Coyotes have reassigned defenseman Matt Jones to the American Hockey League (AHL) club.

The 22-year-old rookie has collected 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) and 44 PIM in 47 games with the Rampage and was named to the PlanetUSA roster for the 2006 AHL All-Star Classic.

Jones has registered two assists and 14 penalty minutes (PIM) in 15 games with the Rampage's NHL affiliate this season after four call-ups. The 6-foot, 215-pound blueliner recorded his first NHL point on Jan. 14 with an assist in the Coyotes' 4-3 win at Toronto.

Jones, a native of Downers Grove, Illinois was drafted by the Coyotes (3rd round, 80th overall) in the 2002 Entry Draft.

The Rampage continue their seven-game road trip by playing four games in five nights starting tomorrow night in Chicago against the Wolves at 7 p.m. CT.
