Grand Junction Jackalopes News Release

Cole Anderson and Mylz Jones hit 2-run homers, but it wasn't enough as the Grand Junction Rockies lost to the Idaho Falls Chukars Sunday afternoon at Suplizio Field 11-7.

Anderson's home run came in the eighth inning, and it capped a 3-hit day. Jones' long ball got the Rockies on the board in the third. It was his only hit, but he walked three times.

Neither team scored in the game's first two innings, but Logan Nottebrok started the third with his second home run of the season. They added five more runs in the inning to take a 6-0 lead. Josh Banuelos hit a 3-run shot later in the frame. After Jones went deep in the bottom of the inning, the Chukars put up three in the sixth to make it a 9-2 game.

Collin Ferguson singled home a run for the Rockies in the seventh to cut the Chukars lead to six, but they scored two in the eighth to make it 11-3. Grand Junction cut that lead in half with a four spot in the bottom of the inning, capped off by Anderson's home run. Jonathan Piron and Anthony Brito brought in the first two runs.

Piron finished with two hits, giving him four for the series, but the Rockies were out-hit 18-9 on the day.

Trey Killian allowed the six runs in the third, handing him his fourth loss. Christian Talley tossed two scoreless innings out of the bullpen, but Scott Firth gave up the three in the sixth. After Gavin Glanz kept them off the board for 1.1 innings, Justin Lawrence gave up a pair in his Pioneer League debut. Sam Thoele put up a zero in the ninth.

The loss drops the Rockies to 5-17 in the second half, 25-35 overall. The win gets Idaho Falls to 17-5 in the half, 30-30 overall. They are at .500 for the first time all season.
