Slippery Rock, PA - Slippery Rock Sliders will be taking on their I-79 rivals the Washington Wild Things in a double header this Sunday at 6:05 p.m., but before the crowd starts cheering for their favorite team, fans will be coming to Jack Critchfield Park to celebrate their faith during the Slippery Rock Sliders' Fellowship Night. The event, sponsored by Praise 910 AM, Christian Hit Radio, is targeted towards junior and senior high school church youth groups.

Jon Kolb, former starting offensive lineman for the Pittsburgh Steelers and a well-known Christian speaker, will be talking to fans about Christian values and the basics of faith at 5:30 p.m. Kolb appeared in four Super Bowls for the Steelers in the 1970's and is known for being the strongest man to ever play in the National Football League. He also competed in the World's Strongest Man Competition. Kolb resides in Grove City where he does strength and conditioning for Grove City College. Kolb is also a physical therapist in Sharon.

Fans will also be entertained by Stauffer starting at 4:30 p.m. in the Alumni Pavilion, which overlooks left field. Stauffer consists of Nathan Stauffer, who writes and performs music in Nashville, while the four other members of the band currently live in Youngstown, Ohio. Stauffer just released a new CD, their third overall, which will be on sale before the Sliders game.

Rev. Bob Stauffer, the Sliders' team Chaplain, has been working hard to make Slippery Rock Sliders Fellowship Night an enjoyable community night. Rev. Stauffer is in the early stages of brining a new church to the Slippery Rock area called Gateway Community Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Gateway Community is currently meeting for worship at Slippery Rock University's Union until the church is built. The official opening of Gateway Community is Sept. 9.
