Johnson Signs 10-Day Contract with Miami Heat

Sioux Falls, SD (Jan. 12, 2015) - The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed rookie guard Tyler Johnson to a 10-day contact. Johnson is the first Skyforce player to earn a Gatorade Call-Up this season and the 47th player to earn a Call-Up in the organizations 26-year history.

Johnson appeared in 13 games (all starts) for the Skyforce this season and holds averages of 18.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.8 assists. His best game of the season came in a 138-126 victory over the Texas Legends (watch highlights) on Dec. 16. That night Johnson scored 31 points (11-19 FG, 5-6 3FG) and grabbed nine rebounds.

"No one has worked harder than Tyler," said Head Coach Phil Weber, "Tyler has played at an extremely high level and has shown the things that make his efforts worthy of such an opportunity."

Johnson will wear number 8 with the HEAT.

The Skyforce's (10-10) next home game is this Tuesday, Jan. 13 against the Erie BayHawks (7-14). Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Sanford Pentagon.
